Every course is going to require its own set of study materials. While most of the materials can be acquired from the FAA’s website, there are some additional texts and equipment that will prepare you for your career in the aviation industry.
Before starting your helicopter or airplane flight training career, it’s always a good idea to get your medical certificate. While your medical isn’t required until you solo the aircraft, the FAA is the ultimate decision maker on whether you are capable of flying or not. If you are undergoing the flight training program with Klamath Community College, or utilizing your veteran’s benefits, you will be required to obtain a Second Class Medical Certificate. All other forms of training will require a third class Medical Certificate. The cost of the examination is generally between $150-$250.
